All Elite Wrestling peaked as a promotion in the summer of 2021. Everything had been built so perfectly and seamlessly that, coupled with the expected arrivals of CM Punk and Bryan Danielson, it was an experience unlike anything else.

Fight For The Fallen was a defining pillar of this success. It wasn't a pay-per-view per se, but it may as well have been. The promoted card - held in front of a rabid Charlotte, North Carolina crowd - was laid out by Tony Khan so carefully, so elegantly, so wonderfully that he could have been in the running for the Booker of the Year award off this episode alone.

Highlighted by a sickening Deathmatch between Chris Jericho and Nick Gage that surpassed all expectations given traditional television network restrictions, the night was met at the other end by its heartbreaking show opener; the Elite preventing 'Hangman' Adam Page, aided by the Dark Order, from attaining his AEW World Championship opportunity. This was the epitome of Tony Khan's booking magic. Down to a three-to-one disadvantage, Page wiped Matt Jackson from existence before succumbing to two V-Triggers and a One-Winged Angel.

Page's dreams died triumphantly. This only laid the foundations for his eventual title ascension at Full Gear.
