By 2010, the Divas division was virtually depleted. Thus, there was absolutely no need for two titles on the Raw and SmackDown brands, respectively, so it was only logical to merge them back into one unified belt.

At SummerSlam 2010, the reigning co-Women's champions LayCool assaulted the new Divas champion Melina, teasing a title for title match at Night of Champions. That was the route they eventually went in with the stipulation later being added that it would be a Lumberjill match.

Although Melina had the match won at various points, she was eventually outnumbered by LayCool and came up short of becoming the Unified Divas champion. Unfortunately for fans, Michelle McCool opted to keep the Divas title alive and retired the lineage of the Women's Championship.

This year's installment will feature Nikki Bella defending the Divas Championship against Charlotte. There's hope among fans that the Women's title will be brought back at some point, and that could start with Charlotte as champion.
