As a 15-time WWE champion, most of John Cena's title reigns are rather forgettable. He first and third reigns as champion lasted almost two years in total, but the other 13 runs weren't nearly as memorable.

Somewhere between 2005 and 2011, he won nine WWE titles and was looking to close in on his tenth. He chased the championship all summer and was granted one final shot at the prestigious prize at 2011's Night of Championship pay-per-view against Alberto Del Rio.

Mind you, Del Rio had been champ for no more than a month by the time the event rolled around, but that didn't change WWE's decision to put the belt back on the tried and true Cena. Reportedly, WWE panicked when the ratings dipped during Del Rio's reign and decided to switch things up by having Cena regain the gold for a two week period.

It was undoubtedly a historic victory for The Champ, but it's a shame the reign wasn't more significant than it ended up being.
