What is this match even going to look like?

Answering this question has been tough from the start, with the past few weeks only complicating matters further. Sting can’t bump, we assumed. He’s too old, too beaten-up, and too rusty. He’s 61 years old. He broke his back the last time he wrestled - and that was five-and-a-half years ago.

This led to speculation, rooted in logic, of a cinematic match. The format that gave The Undertaker one last WrestleMania hurrah could help mask the Icon’s weaknesses and keep him safe. Such a bout’s heavily-produced nature might not make for the most believable viewing experience, but at least Sting would be protected,

Then the past three weeks happened. Suddenly, Sting is being snapped into the mat with Brian Cage powerbombs, brawling, and hitting his first Stinger Splashes in a half-decade. Angles designed to show you he can still move have worked, at least to a degree, raising the question of whether or not a cinematic match is even necessary. Maybe we’ll get a pure Street Fight after all.

Either way, Cage and Ricky Starks should win this. A pin on Darby Allin would open Starks in particular up for a future TNT Championship shot nicely. Sting is here to enhance, lift people up, and boost, and this outcome would do that for Team Taz.

Winners: Team Taz
