10 Huge Stars Who Only Held The WWE Intercontinental Title Once
3. Randy Orton
Randy Orton is a FOURTEEN TIME WWE World Champion.
Only John Cena and Ric Flair have more than that. Randall Keith Orton, whether you appreciate his style or not, has been a relevant part of the WWE system for almost two decades, clocking up a hell of a career that is inarguably worthy of a Hall of Fame induction.
His reign as Intercontinental Champion came at the height of his Evolution run, which is why it is held in such high regard and why Randy Orton is a name that rocks up when the belt is mentioned. So good was his run with the belt, which he captured from Rob Van Dam in December 2003, that it feels like he held the belt on numerous occasions.
Wrong. It was Randy's only run with the belt, as he was hot-shotted into the main event scene at SummerSlam 2004, winning the World Heavyweight Championship a month after dropping the IC Title to Edge, ensuring the recently departed Brock Lesnar was stricken from the record books as the youngest champion.
A short reign and poor babyface run meant Orton soon reverted back to his heelish ways and has gone on to be one of the WWE's most dependable stars of recent times.
