10 Huge Stars Who Only Held The WWE Intercontinental Title Once

2. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre's story to the top is inspiring stuff.

When he first debuted in 2009, McIntyre was set up to fail by being labelled a 'future world champion' by Vince McMahon himself. The fresh faced Scot, whilst competent in the ring and dreamy on the eyes, hadn't refined his gimmick or style to match such lofty claims.

A few months later, McIntyre took the IC Title from John Morrison at TLC, giving him his one and only run with the belt. It lasted for six months, but it did little to elevate McIntyre from the mid-card and before long, he was jobbing about with Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal in 3MB.

After being released by the company, McIntyre took the indies by storm, chiselling his body into Vince McMahon's spank bank and racking up multiple title wins. He left WWE a boy but returned to NXT a man and his short run saw him snag the NXT title before returning to the main roster.

Now, McIntyre is a multi-time WWE Champion and a Royal Rumble winner and looks set to be a cornerstone of WWE's main event scene for years to come. Although, a little less of the history lessons and "SWORD STUFF" would be appreciated.
