10 Huge Stars Who Only Held The WWE Intercontinental Title Once
1. Kurt Angle
Finding a better professional wrestler than peak Kurt Angle is a very hard task and would take some real convincing.
The Olympic Gold Medalist took to the professional scene like a duck to water and it cannot be overstated just how brilliant his first year in the WWE was. Delivering fantastic matches and also being incredibly goofy and adorable on the mic, Angle became an overnight sensation that needed to be pushed to the moon.
Now a certified Hall of Famer, who had multiple runs with the top belts and won numerous match of the year accolades, Angle only held the WWE Intercontinental Championship once. Reigning as both IC and European Champion heading into WrestleMania 16, Angle had lifted the belt from Chris Jericho at No Way Out the month prior.
At the admittedly rather dull event, Angle hilariously lost both belts in a two fall match including Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho, which each fall being for one of the belts. Even worse for Angle, he didn't lose either fall, therefore losing all the gold due to no fault of his own as Chris Benoit snagged the IC Title.
Kurt Angle will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest wrestlers to ever step foot in a WWE ring, so it always seems a little strange that he only held the 'work horse title' for only 35 days.
