Over the years, the teams have been firing shots at each other on social media, particular Nick and Matt Jackson, with the likes of Hangman, Cody and Omega, on Being The Elite, whilst FTRcompeted in WWE. Ultimately the friendly feud boiled down to settling who were, and still are, the best tag team partnership in wrestling today. Old school vs. New school.

Once Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler arrived in AEW, they subtly put their plan in motion to cause division within The Elite. Firstly, they took the abbreviation of The Elite's catchphrase ("f*** the Revival) and claimed it as their own, with ambiguous interpretation. Secondly, antagonising Omega, pouring beer over him, setting off a chain of events, teasing a 'revival' of the Best Bout Machine's previous heel-ish 'Cleaner' character. Then, they capitalised on Adam Page's ongoing alcohol abuse, which was already concerning his group mates, leading to Hangman costing the Young Bucks a title shot against him and Omega, which would be the final straw. Finally, winning the titles from Omega and Page, cementing themselves as the top team.

The build-up this match has been the best story going in the industry as of right now and is long overdue. It can only be a matter of time before FTR and the Bucks collide.
