This is happening again?

A strange month for the SmackDown Tag Team Champions started with them solidifying their status as the best on the blue brand with a victory over the Lucha House Party. It was so comprehensive that it kicked off a split storyline between the three babyfaces that looks set to explode again on Sunday.

All fairly competent stuff from the writing and the wrestlers, had the 'Swiss Superman' and 'The Artist' not decided to go to Raw and get their a*ses handed to them by The Street Profits. This weird diversion appeared only to fill a bit of television time and/or satisfy some sort of odd Fox/USA request (or perhaps remind viewers that a bit of brand-on-brand action goes on once in a while), and has only really reduced the Champions to low status characters in this story along with the challengers.

Kalisto could be quite a intriguing prospect as a heel, so if that comes as a result of all this, there's at least one net positive to be found. Otherwise, this just serves as yet another rematch that probably could have gone on the Kickoff instead.

Winners - Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura
