10 Incredible Wrestlers Who STILL Don't Get The Praise They Deserve
3. Eddie Kingston
Since joining AEW, Eddie Kingston has finally received the praise he deserves for his GOAT-tier promo work. The beauty of Kingston's work on the mic lies in the fact that nothing he says or does feels like a promo. Every line the Yonkers native throws out there feels real and emotional.
There's a raw passion and pain to Eddie Kingston's work that sets him apart from the rest of the pack. Initially brought into AEW as a one-off appearance for Cody Rhodes' TNT title open challenge, the charismatic Kingston won the fans over and has become a permanent fixture.
His feud with buddy Jon Moxley last year was another great showcase of Kingston's take no prisoners character work. What it also served to showcase was an aspect of Kingston that is severely underrated: his wrestling.
While he's not exactly a super athlete by the lofty standards of modern pro wrestling, Kingston's selling, brawling and crowd working are all first class. Fearless in the face of more hardcore match types, Kingston's work keeps the crowd heat turned up to 11. The consistency of his selling and body language appropriate to his gritty persona are also commendable.
Despite his undeniable all-around talent, Kingston's win-loss ratio since joining AEW has been good but not great. As impressive as his current work with CM Punk is, his chances of beating The Second City Saint and moving back up the card are slim to none. For now, at least his authenticity continues to draw recognition.
