10 Indie Stars Ruined By WWE
3. Paul London
Paul London did, in all fairness, finish his WWE career a multi-time tag team champion, having held the belts twice with long-term partner Brian Kendrick and once alongside former mentor Billy Kidman for a couple of months in 2004.
But that only tells half the story. The truth is that the company's tag team division was at an all-time low during the tail-end of the Ruthless Aggression Era, so much so that Deuce 'n' Domino had a 133-day reign as the SmackDown champions in 2007.
The rest of London's WWE run was largely disappointing. The high-flying, death-defying offence for which he became famous in Ring Of Honor was neutered, and his character became that of a timid underdog instead of someone self-confident in his God-given ability.
All of this might have been different had he just remembered to keep a straight face during that Vince McMahon segment, an infraction which - according to many reports - ultimately led to his release in November of 2008. Lesson: don't smile at your boss.
