10 Insane WrestleMania Main Events That Nearly Happened

WWE flipped the world title scene on its head a month before WrestleMania 25.

Edge and John Cena walked in the belts, but Triple H and Edge left with them. The weird thing was that Edge walked in with the WWE strap, but left as World Heavyweight Champion. The Ultimate Opportunist at his absolute best. After the Rated-R Superstar lost his belt in the first Elimination Chamber match, he forced he way into the second, with Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Mike Knox, and Kane. After Edge pinned Cena it was another match where a new champion was guaranteed.

Rey Mysterio was the final participant, and arguable should've won had it not been for Edge inserting himself into the match.

Having Rey walk into 'Mania as champion wouldn't have been too strange because he was always popular. Besides, they shoved Big Show into the match because he was having an affair with Vicky Guerrero... wrestling! Without the shenanigans, WrestleMania was gearing up to be Edge Vs. Randy Orton, meaning the choice was between a Rated-RKO showdown or an Evolution one. Both seem like the wrong decision looking back.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
