10 Insane WrestleMania Main Events That Nearly Happened
5. Scott Steiner Vs. Booker T
A rematch from the very last episode of WCW Monday Nitro, Scott Steiner Vs. Booker T for the Big Gold Belt at WrestleMania XIX would've been the perfect send off for World Championship Wrestling.
Ha! As if Vince McMahon was ever going to do that.
Despite huge applause when Big Papa Pump returned at Survivor Series 2002, fans quickly realised they weren't seeing the same Steiner from a year earlier. Something changed over the previous 15 months and even though he was immediately thrown into the main event scene with Triple H , it didn't work.
Steiner had the chance to take the World Heavyweight Championship from Triple H twice, but after his first match against The Game at the Royal Rumble wasn't well received, the rematch was just a way to blow off the feud.
This was a period where Triple H went through the everybody who was anybody in WCW, but fans didn't know that yet. Imagine if Steiner had been the one feuding with Booker T, Kevin Nash, and Goldberg in 2003. He could've taken the belt all the way to WrestleMania XX and feuded with Chris Benoit, another former WCW Champion, although that would be considered a reign of terror that fans didn't want to see.
