10 Japanese Wrestlers You Must See Before You Die

10. Keiji Mutoh/The Great Muta

Why you must watch him: He€™s one of the most influential wrestlers in Japanese history. Muta was one of the first Japanese wrestlers to bring the Japanese style to North America and make a big name for himself while doing so. His subtle movements, unique expressions, and careful storytelling made him an excellent wrestler that managed to have great matches with an astonishing variety of opponents. From smaller or equal-sized guys like Ric Flair and Masa Chono, to much larger opponents like Big Van Vader, Mutoh managed to put on outstanding matches with all of them. Aside from his mastery of psychology, Mutoh€™s also a wildly entertaining wrestler, with his wide variety of eye-catching maneuvers: the Green Mist, the Moonsault (he€™s believed to be one of, if not the first wrestler to use the move on a regular basis), the Muta Lock, and the Shining Wizard. And if that€™s not enough to convince, you, he also set the standard for bloody matches with Hiroshi Hase, a contest so bloody it created the Muta Scale.
