10 Japanese Wrestlers You Must See Before You Die

4. Kenta Kobashi

Why you must watch him: He€™s literally the perfect wrestler. That isn€™t a hyperbolic statement; Tokyo Sports named Kenta Kobashi €˜the perfect wrestler€™ in early 2000, and that was before he became one of the biggest draws in Japanese wrestling history. Kenta Kobashi was, for twenty five years, arguably the most consistent and versatile wrestler in Japan. He was completely adaptable to any situation, and could garner a huge reaction from the crowd while doing very little. Over the years, Kobashi has collected a series of nicknames that€™ve amplified his world-renowned reputation. These include: €˜Mr. Puroresu€™, for his unbelievable skill in the ring; €˜The Maximum Innovator€™, for coming up with more impressive signature moves than arguably any other wrestler alive today; and €˜Tetsujin€™ (Iron Man), for being able to both dish out and take an extraordinary amount of damage. These nicknames are excellent reflections of the outstanding matches Kobashi has had over the years, and how much of an impact he had on Japanese pro wrestling. If you want to see an immensely tough wrestler with arms thicker than most people€™s legs do literally anything in the ring, and have a particularly good time chopping the daylights out of his opponents, than Kobashi will entertain you very well.
