10 Jaw-Dropping Times WWE Blurred The Lines

4. CM Punk Pipebomb

As great as Styles’ promo was though, it wasn’t quite as memorable as that of CM Punk in the summer of 2011. In fact, Punk’s tirade was so significant that it popularised the term "pipebomb", and became the basis for one of the greatest angles in recent WWE history.

Much like Styles, Punk was given the chance to go out on Raw with a live microphone and get some things off his chest. Things that included how “sick” it made him that The Rock would be headlining WrestleMania, that he was just a mere “spoke on the wheel”, and that the company might be better off once Vince McMahon was dead.

Strong words from Punk, and words that were used to fuel the idea that he’d be leaving the company with the WWE Championship once his contract expired in a couple of weeks.

Again, much like the Styles promo, that part wasn’t entirely true, but the content of his promo might well have been. Still, Punk himself has said that at one point he was convinced that he’d actually be leaving, so this one’s actually rather more realistic than the history books may suggest.
