4. Mabel Wins The 1995 King Of The Ring
It's long been said that Vince McMahon is fascinated with the idea of big men ruling his promotion. Names such as Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and The Undertaker instantly spring to mind. All are former WWF/WWE World Champions, and all were huge men in their respective primes. Such adulation for a large physical presence can be the only explanation for why Mabel was pushed in 1995. Winning the 1995 'King Of The Ring' tournament, the awkward and slow-moving monster was suddenly a main event player. The tournament had included names such as Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, but that didn't stop the WWF writers from booking Mabel to win. It was a poor decision, and represents one of the major problems plaguing the company in '95. In other words, there was a real lack of fresh talent on the roster. That fact, combined with the man's size, led the promotion to shunt the uncoordinated former tag wrestler up the pecking order. Facing Diesel at SummerSlam, Mabel tanked as a headliner. Everybody aside from McMahon could realistically see that coming.
