10 Lamest WWE Ideas Ever

3. The Infamous Gobbledy Gooker

In the lead up to the 1990 Survivor Series, the WWF went into hype mode over what was contained within a giant egg. Literally for weeks before the event, announcers were instructed to guess and try to build excitement for the hatching. That reveal would take place on Pay-Per-View, and it was certainly a original concept to build a wrestling show around. Sadly, that doesn't make it a good one. At the time, a lot of people felt it was surely a big name set to take the WWF by storm. After all, what else could it be? The idea that it would be Hector Guerrero in a bird outfit was preposterous, but that was exactly what happened. 'Mean' Gene Okerlund and 'The Gobbledy Gooker' then danced around the ring, and the fans rained boos down on the segment. The entire thing was undoubtedly lame. Management must have known that people wouldn't be excited by the skit, but pressed ahead with it anyway. The turkey gimmick was shelved without ever wrestling, and it's hard to know what Vince McMahon's company had in mind if the character hadn't been received negatively by fans. Was The Gobbledy Gooker really going to work matches?
