There is nothing wrong with the idea of an Elimination Chamber match in and of itself. The problem comes from the idea of its 'play-date' placement on the calendar. The first three Chamber matches took place in differing months: November 2002, August 2003, and January 2005. The gimmick was only invoked when it was felt that the World title picture needed drastic measures taken to settle scores. While TLC and Hell in a Cell suffer from the same watering down of valuable gimmicks, the Chamber was situated just before WrestleMania, and that only watered it down further. When Chamber spun off into its own pay-per-view, it became a building block to WrestleMania, instead of the violent blow-off for multiple feuds. The NFL doesn't hold its playoffs during Week 5, you know.
