10 Lessons WWE Raw Needs To Learn From SmackDown Right Now
Why is SmackDown so much better than RAW at this moment in WWE history?
RAW has been a sinking ship for a long time. The creative team behind WWE's flagship programme have been stumped for years. Despite roster changes, Superstar Shake-ups and NXT call-ups...RAW has been constantly struggling to stay afloat.
Friday Night SmackDown on the other hand has been thriving. Roman Reigns has proven himself as the best heel in the company at the moment and is driving the show forward, despite the lack of fans. It's not just the main event scene that's great on SmackDown. The mid-card, Tag and Women's Division have all been stellar when compared to the red brand.
The strangest aspect of this whole situation is that Vince McMahon signs off on both shows. So why RAW is constantly being rewritten minutes before the show goes live remains a mystery. There are so many talented performers on the RAW roster who are just waiting to sink their teeth into some meaty creative. Yet they are stifled by clumsy promos, bad finishes and cliché storylines.
RAW needs fixing, and all they have to do is look to Friday nights for the solution!
10. Make The Mid Card Championship Feel Important
The United States Championship has had its ups and downs. John Cena reinvented the belt through his open challenge in 2015 While Dolph Ziggler destroyed the credibility of the championship by relinquishing it in 2017. Now should be the time that RAW starts establishing the belt as a top prize, however they've done the opposite.
Bobby Lashley looks good with the belt. An athlete of his calibre deserves to have a good run with the title, but he has been marred by bad finishes and disappointing feuds. His rivalry with Matt Riddle has been painful. Unfunny comedy and damaging matches have made Lashley look like a weak champion, which is not what you want for his character or the belt.
Big E over on SmackDown has been having great match after great match. He has been taken to the limit by both Sami Zayn and Apollo Crews. These storylines have great characters and gimmicks revolving around them, making their quest for the Intercontinental title even more compelling.
A lot of work needs to be done to fix the US Championship, but taking a leaf out of the IC title book would be a start.
