In second place we find the lightest of Jeff Hardy's 2009 main events, his series of battles against the Straight Edge Superstar himself, CM Punk. 2009 was the year that WWE pulled the trigger on Hardy, but Brother Nero was unable to stand the pace and had to get out whilst he could. 2009 was also the year that CM Punk, finally turned heel.

Their feud was another classic in recent WWE memory, and was the second straight year that an all-time feud happened with the World Heavyweight Championship involved. Jack Swagger really did a number on that strap I guess.

Hardy and Punk officially headlined two shows together, these being Night of Champions and SummerSlam a month later, a match would be Hardy's last in WWE. Punk's last would come a few years later, at Royal Rumble 2014.

One interesting point on Punk is that if more of his WWE Championship matches during his record-breaking run were main events, we'd see him a lot more. His matches against Jericho, Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan would all have found themselves a spot on this list. As it is, his pair of matches with Hardy are all that we get from the 218lb MMA fighter.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
