10 Live Observations From Attending WrestleMania 32

6. Old Timers' Day

WrestleMania was, according to rumors before the event, supposed to serve as a coming-out party for The New Day. The recently-turned group was supposed to cement their babyface status and receive the beginnings of a push that showed just how much the company appreciated their popularity.

That didn't happen. The group lost a relatively uneventful match to The League of Nations, and the heel stable was then beaten up by Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, and Mick Foley. When New Day tried to celebrate with the former WWE Champions, Austin gave Xavier Woods a stunner.

The segment did nothing for New Day - the men who defeated them were easily manhandled by three 50-year-olds, and they were then humiliated by the former champs. There has to be a way to use ex-stars that manages to get the current stars over, but WWE hasn't discovered it, and instead decided to sacrifice one of the very few acts that's truly over for the sake of a one-time pop.
