Unless something drastic happens in the next week, Goldberg is set to follow up his WrestleMania XX victory over Brock Lesnar with a rematch against the same man in the main event of WrestleMania 33. The current WWE Universal Champion's 13 year absence between first and second 'Mania appearances puts him top of that particular list.

Bret Hart and 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper did battle in an all-time classic at WrestleMania VIII, and both men went on to miss 13 years between their penultimate and final 'Mania appearances. Piper's break would have been even longer, had Razor Ramon not been suspended in the run-up to 'Mania XII - Roddy acted as a late replacement for The Bad Guy against Goldust. 13 years later, Piper teamed with Jimmy Snuka and Ricky Steamboat (more on them shortly) in a handicap match loss to Chris Jericho.

The Hitman and Stone Cold Steve Austin went toe-to-toe in one of the great 'Mania matches at WrestleMania 13, but seven months later Hart left the company under the darkest cloud. Time eventually healed those wounds, and Bret was able to get something approaching revenge on Vince McMahon in a bore of a street fight at WrestleMania XXVI.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
