10 Longest Reigning ECW World Heavyweight Champions
10. Matt Hardy - 127 Days
In some ways, Matt Hardy was emblematic of how WWE viewed the revamped ECW once Paul Heyman left. It was somewhere for veteran midcarders to go and experience a well-deserved world title run whilst helping to groom the stars of the future. Well, the Jack Swagger of the future at least. Still, Hardy's one and only world title reign in the WWE Universe is not without its quirks. He won the strap in the very first Championship Scramble match at Unforgiven 2008. Mark Henry was the reigning champion going into the match, but Hardy saw off the World's Strongest Man along with The Miz, Finlay and Chavo Guerrero to pick up the W. His run would last 127 days and see him pick up defences against his scramble opponents among many more. The legend that is Jack Swagger would put a stop to his run in January 2009.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
