The night after Stone Cold Steve Austin's unforeseeable heel turn at WrestleMania X7, The Texas Rattlesnake and Triple H joined forces to create the Two-Man Power Trip. With the pair becoming Tag Team Champions with Austin holding the WWF Championship and The Game the Intercontinental Championship, Triple H was one of the most hated men in the entire company.

However, a serious career-threatening quadricep injury would instantly force Triple H to sit on the sidelines for eight months. The good news is that he was lucky enough to miss the entire Invasion angle.

Having left a detested heel, Triple H returned in January of 2002 to a thunderous ovation from a jubilant Madison Square Garden audience. Described by the man himself as "overwhelming", The Game had instantly and inexplicably become the company's top babyface. Now you know the secret, Roman Reigns.

The positive reaction to Triple H's return led to his most prominent run as a face - arguably including D-Generation X - during which The Game won that month's Royal Rumble on the road to becoming the Undisputed Champion at WrestleMania X8.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
