Bill Goldberg was pro wrestling's latest phenomenon when he landed in late-1997. Jealous eyes have long-since claimed he was a flash in the pan, citing the fact he only had a short few years on top. That's ignorant, Goldberg brought more to the table than simply being in the right place at the right time.

Possessing an obvious level of natural charisma, his aggressive nature and no-frills look made him the darling of WCW fans craving that killer new babyface. Goldberg delivered, and he was on fire by the time he locked horns with Hollywood Hogan on the July 6, 1998 episode of Monday Nitro.

People really wanted to see Goldberg topple Hogan and become WCW World Champion, so much so that WCW were able to cram approximately 40,000 into the Georgia Dome for the match.

When Goldberg pinned Hogan, the place went bananas. WCW had pulled the trigger on their latest sensation, and fans were thrilled to see it. Crucially, they executed the title win at exactly the right moment. In other words, the fans demanded it, so WCW provided.
