10 Major Improvements WWE Must Make Before WrestleMania XL

5. Take Itself Less Seriously In Places

One of the most refreshing elements to have popped up on WWE programming in the Triple H main roster era is a willingness to have a little bit of genuine fun that doesn't involve painful Vinnie Mac toilet humour.

The Judgment Day in particular have shown time and time again that there's a place for absolutely ridiculous antics within even the most personal drama, with Dominik's brilliant stints in the clink directly connecting to the idea of him feeling let down by his dead-beat dad in the lead-up to their eventual Mania grudge match.

Sadly, though, despite at one point seemingly leaning into the barminess and all-round silliness heading into their own Show of Shows blow-off, Edge and Finn Balor didn't quite go all-in on the joyful absurdity during their eventual Hell in a Cell war. You know, outside of the colour-coded weaponry.

Whereas Rey vs. Ex Con Dom saw a spot involving the former whipping his son's ass with a belt, the Demon vs. Brood Edge depicted the two gurning enemies grunting around the structure in pursuit of five-star, gritty glory.

Again, should the story demand it, there's nothing wrong with some high-stakes bouts taking themselves seriously on the biggest stages. But hopefully WWE now have the sense to know that sometimes being a bit gloriously goofy and hilariously insane - without a fart joke or flipped portable loo in sight - is exactly what the people are looking for in their sports entertainment heading into Mania XL.
