7. Becky Lynch Squashes Bianca Belair At SummerSlam
Talk about ruining seven months of hard work...
After winning the Royal Rumble and having a star-making turn at WrestleMania, Bianca Belair solidified herself as a top champion for SmackDown. After a solid feud with Bayley throughout the summer, Belair was set to face Sasha Banks at SummerSlam. A rematch of their WrestleMania match.
Shenanigans ensued and the match was called off resulting in a double swerve. Carmella replaced Banks and a returning Becky Lynch replaced Carmella. So, it was set, Becky Lynch versus Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women's Championship. This was going to be epic!
Or so we thought. Instead, Becky Lynch squashed The EST of WWE in 27 seconds. What a waste. All the work of building up a new star, one who has genuinely got over with the fans...gone. Destroyed in an instant.
This squash serviced no one. It didn't make Lynch look strong as the angle wasn't pulled off well. It was supposed to be a heel turn but didn't play out that way. The angle just made Belair look incompetent.
Following the match, Bianca still hasn't recovered from this squash. It was needless and has seriously damaged one of WWE's hottest young prospects.
