10 Major Mistakes WWE Has Made In 2021

5. The Extreme Rules Finish

One of the most enduring characters from NXT's golden era was Finn Balor and his alternate persona, The Demon. The face paint paired with the entrance was just magic to behold. Surprisingly, this translated over to the main roster as The Demon was undefeated. Well...Until Extreme Rules 2021.

As his match with Roman Reigns reached its climax, The Demon began a comeback with light effects, music and am-dram techniques by Balor. The Demon was about to hit his finisher on Reigns when suddenly, the ropes snapped. Balor falls to the floor, eats a spear, 1-2-3.

WWE has a very big track record with bad finishes but this one was the worst. Why book this match if you don't want either guy to lose?

The worst part about this finish is that there was no follow up. Fans were left to believe that some sort of divine intervention helped Reigns defeat The Demon, but this was never explicitly said. Sadly, this was The Demon's only loss on the main roster, and it was an absolute train wreck.
