10 Major Signings That WWE Totally Wasted

4. Scott Steiner

One of the last big WCW names to join WWE following the Invasion angle, Scott Steiner should've been a big deal. He signed his contract in late 2002, and received a great pop upon re-debuting at Survivor Series 2002, with General Managers Eric Bischoff and Stephanie McMahon spending the next few weeks courting his services.

This presented Steiner as a major coup from the get-go, and he was placed in a feud with World Heavyweight Champion Triple H immediately after pledging his allegiance to Raw. Sounds great, right?

It wasn't. This historically bad storyline completely failed at establishing the former WCW Champion as a key player, and killed all hope of him becoming a long-term main eventer. Uncomfortable in his babyface role, Steiner was forced to work through a series of turgid pose-downs and arm-wrestling contests, before meeting 'The Game' in two horrifically boring matches at the Royal Rumble and No Way Out.

Steiner lost the feud, and shuffled down the card thereafter. He was feuding with Test over Stacy Keibler's managerial services by the end of the year, then limped his way into 2004, before he was eventually released while injured that summer.
