10 Major Unanswered Questions About AEW

2. CM Punk Or Nah?

CM Punk has done well to keep his currency high amongst wrestling fans despite not taking a single bump in public since school trousers Kane planted him through a commentary table at the 2014 Royal Rumble.

Choosing his opportunities slightly more carefully than his words after an infamous Art Of Wrestling appearance later that year triggered lawsuits and lunacy, Punk's decision to appear at All Out's Starrcast event earlier this year made real the idea that he was at least in conversation with Tony Khan, Cody and co about something, even if recent reports from the Wrestling Observer has suggested it'll be WWE or bust for a 'Voice Of The Voiceless' return, bizarrely by the way of a hosting gig on some FS1 shoulder programming.

The sad reality of that possibility is in how it deprives AEW of a potential in-build headliner that couldn't be a better fit. This wouldn't be Cody bringing in his old WWE mates Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger et al for TNA-style paydays, but the biggest free agent of the last half-decade. Not least one that comes in built with boxed-in vitriol towards the opposition.

Jim Ross' "Cash & Creative" catchphrase feels appropriate here - Punk surely won't budge unless he's pleased with both, but those at AEW's top table know how to produce both.
