"It's Fan....Dan...Go!" March 1st 2013's episode of Smackdown saw the debut of Fandango, a ballroom dancer who was extremely fussy about the way people pronounced his name. So fussy, in fact, that he refused to wrestle if they got it wrong. A little over a month later, Fandango faced Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 29 in his very first televised match. Um, what? How did that happen? Fandango's exceedingly swift rise to a prominent position on the Wrestlemania card caught a lot of people off guard, not the least of which was his opponent; Jericho has been quite open on his podcast about the fact that he was less than amused about this match at The Show Of Shows. Fandango had previously been on WWE TV as Johnny Curtis, and had won the fourth season of NXT, but had been sent back to Florida Championship Wrestling to further develop after his initial run. He had therefore wrestled in front of WWE audiences before, but not as Fandango and certainly not in front of 80,000 people. In truth, Fandango performed about as well as anyone could have expected, with he and Jericho putting on a decent midcard encounter. He went on to gain some novelty popularity due to his catchy entrance music and was once in line to win the Intercontinental Championship until he suffered an ill-timed concussion, putting a stop to those plans. His career has never quite recovered, and he currently languishes at the bottom of the WWE totem pole. That said, there is still time for Fandango, and at least he can always say he had his 'Wrestlemania Moment'.
