10 Missed Opportunities In Brock Lesnar’s WWE Career
2. The Biggest Rematch Ever Against The Rock
There was only one televised singles match between The Rock and Brock Lesnar, their SummerSlam 2002 main event. Rock did the right thing in that match, dropping the strap to The Next Big Thing, clean as a whistle. That was the night where WWE crowned Lesnar as their next big star of the future. The long-awaited rematch could have went down at WrestleMania 32, but it doesn't seem like that's the case anymore. News broke this week that The Rock likely won't be wrestling at WrestleMania due to insurance issues. Companies that are producing his upcoming movies don't want to take the risk of paying him millions of dollars while he competes in a WWE ring. It's easy to see why they would feel that way, but it's a major blow to WWE if they considered doing Lesnar vs. Rock. What's interesting about both guys is that they are much bigger names today than they were 13 years ago. The Rock has become one of the most popular movie stars in the world while Lesnar was one of the biggest PPV draws of the last twenty years thanks to his incredible run in UFC. Since The Rock is in his 40s, he may not have that many matches left. At some point, WWE has to realize they need to do this match because it would be the biggest match they can put on.
