10 Misused WWE Wrestlers Who Got Released And STILL Struggled
4. Tye Dillinger
The perfect ten isn't so perfect now.
When Tye Dillinger was working under WWE, he was often booked as enhancement talent but he had a gimmick that fans loved, a strong look and some solid in-ring work that made him feel like far more than just a simple jobber. It always seemed like he was destined for better things, and thus when he requested his release from WWE in 2019, it came as no surprise that he debuted with AEW at their inaugural PPV Double or Nothing.
Unfortunately, even in this less-restricting promotion, he has still struggled to make a name for himself. His early run as the against Cody Rhodes, updated look and focus, and eventual pairing with the legendary Tully Blanchard were all indicators of a new direction for Shawn Spears. Sadly, Spears failed to convince and connect, making his AEW run thoroughly disappointing, and things don't look set to change anytime soon.
Even to this day, his most memorable moment in wrestling remains entering the 2017 Royal Rumble at number 10, playing up to his old gimmick.
