10 Modern Wrestlers And Their Old School Equivalents
6. Kenny Omega & Bret Hart
It would be quite easy to see the modern star Kenny Omega calling himself the "Best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be!". There are a fair few dynamics of the legendary Bret Hart that can be seen in the current AEW World Champion, and it's more than just their Canadian heritage.
If there was one thing that Bret 'The Hitman' Hart was known for, it was his wrestling prowess. The WWE and WCW star was a cut above the rest during his time in the ring, which helped him climb the industry's heights, despite his smaller size. In addition to this, Hart was excellent at switching between a loveable babyface gimmick and an arrogant heel persona.
Now, in regards to Kenny Omega, there is a lot that can link him with The Hitman. The two are both considered to be in-ring performers who stood out in their respective years. Omega didn't get the Best Bout Machine moniker for nothing, and his technical in-ring storytelling has some significant similarities to how Hart operated in the squared circle, in composition more so than style.
Additionally, Omega has a similar ability to flicker between face and heel, in a way that feels thoroughly comparable to Bret Hart.
