10 Modern Wrestlers And Their Old School Equivalents
5. Chad Gable & Kurt Angle
Many fans were incredibly confused when Kurt Angle was implemented in a paternity storyline with Jason Jordan. Excluding some of the obvious questions, such as when did Kurt have a son? What does his wife think? And why are they doing this? The one thing that was on everyone's minds was, why isn't Chad Gable playing his son?
As soon as the fantastic Gable stepped into NXT, comparisons were thrown his way, linking him to the legendary Olympic Hero Kurt Angle. The young and fresh Chad Gable not only wrestled in an entirely similar manner, but he also sported a patriotic ring attire and general presence that was truly American - just like Angle.
Plenty of wrestling fans quickly fantasy booked Gable and Jordan into a revamped version of Angle's signature team The World's Greatest Tag Team, and it is a shame that this didn't come to fruition, as it seemed too good to be (damn) true.
Gable wrestles with a technical style that harks back to his past as an amateur wrestler, in the same vein as Angle used to. This comparison seems to be something that the former Shorty G understands, as he even adopts the signature Ankle Lock that Angle popularised.
