Dolph Ziggler was one of the first signs of the work-rate era that has come to define WWE over the past five years or so.

In a time where WWE still seemed to favour size over anything else, Dolph would stand out as someone who gave everything they could into every match, bumping like crazy and drawing the the crowd in with his exciting move-set. Though he had high-profile opportunities against the likes of CM Punk and Edge, The Show Off always felt like a transitional opponent for champions before they moved into marquee programs, and seemed destined for life in the mid-card.

Therefore, when Ziggler won the Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match in 2012, thus booking himself a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship in the process, fans saw it as Dolph's chance at finally winning the championship many felt he had deserved for years. However, Ziggler held onto the briefcase for an agonisingly long time. Fans started to doubt whether WWE would ever have enough faith in Ziggler to pull the trigger.

The night after WrestleMania 29, Ziggler finally got his chance, cashing in on an injured Alberto Del Rio to a staggering pop. Booked masterfully, the match played off fans fears that WWE may never give Dolph the shot they knew he deserved, making that final Zig-Zag all the more special.

Though the reign itself was a disappointment, fans will always have the pop that came with Ziggler finally winning the big one.
