10 Moments That Defined Impact Wrestling In 2020
6. The Fall Of The North
Having won the World Tag Team Championships on 5 July 2019, you would be well within your right to predict The North's initial reign as World Tag Team Champions would see them positioned as transitional champions. After all, they had thrown themselves into the already-established title contest at Slammiversary two days later between LAX and The Rascalz.
They weren't, though.
Instead, Ethan Page and Josh Alexander became arguably the greatest team in Impact history, reigning as champions until 21 July 2020. Together, the Canadians became not only the longest-reigning tag champions in Impact history, but also the longest-reigning champions in company history, period. No-one had held a title for as long as they had.
That's why when they eventually dropped the gold to The Motor City Machine Guns this past July, it was such a big deal. They'd run through everybody - Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Eddie Edwards, Tessa Blanchard, The Rascalz, Ken Shamrock, Sami Callihan. There was no-one left for them to defend against.
Prior to their reign on top, LAX and The Lucha Bros had left a breath of fresh air on Impact's doubles division, something that The North only made better. In the absence of the now-AEW tandems, Page and Alexander single-handedly made tag team wrestling in Impact Wrestling better.
