It's testament to Rick Martel that he was able to finish his World Television Title defence against Booker T at WCW SuperBrawl VIII.

There, Martel faced Booker T in a match where the winner would immediately defend that belt against Saturn. Unfortunately for the Model, he suffered an injury after just four minutes of this Booker bout.

After taking a hiptoss, the Canadian's leg struck the second rope, in turn tearing Martel's knee ligaments. The former AWA World Champion was actually quick to initially get to his feet, with Booker T taking a bump over the top rope to buy some time.

It was here where the match takes a short breather, with Martel and referee Mickie Jay seen having a chat that was presumably the grappler saying how he was injured.

Originally, Martel was supposed to beat Booker T before then going onto face Saturn. Instead, an audible was called where the Harlem Heat favourite got the win over Martel and then likewise toppled Saturn to walk out of SuperBrawl as the TV Champion.

For Rick Martel, he actually worked a further six minutes after sustaining his injury, even putting Booker T into the Quebec Crab - a move that clearly put a lot of pressure on his injured knee.
