Having been deemed too small to make it as a wrestler, Brian Hildebrand ended up becoming a referee by the name of Mark Curtis. And, during his days serving as a ref in WCW, his wrestling background came in extremely handy during the 8 September 1997 episode of Nitro.

There, Curtis was officiating a bout between Dean Malenko and Psicosis when a fan decided to rush the ring. One has to remember that this was at a time when WCW was experiencing such fan incidents on a worryingly regular basis. For Curtis, he was more than prepared for this would-be attacker.

As soon as the fan hit the ring, the small stature of Mark Curtis hit the idiot with a kick before taking him down with a front facelock - all as Malenko and Psicosis temporarily stopped fighting, and Bobby Heenan openly mocked this fan on commentary.

In reality, Brian Hildebrand was affectionately known to his friends and colleagues by the nickname of the Shooter due to his toughness and how he was famed for being able to take down pretty much anyone he fancied.
