10 Moments Which Define The Undertaker's WrestleMania Legacy
4. End Of An Era? (WrestleMania XXVII)
'The streak' hit another landmark at WrestleMania XXVII. Having defeated Triple H one year prior, 'Taker faced 'The Game' inside Hell In A Cell in Miami. Not only that, but Triple H’s best friend Shawn Michaels was installed as special guest referee, ensuring that if Undertaker hoped to reach the 20-0 mark, he’d have to go through two men.
And that’s exactly what he did. In one of the best matches of his run, Undertaker overcame both Shawn and Hunter to win what felt like a handicap match at times. 'Taker’s victory wasn’t the only moment that mattered, however: the aftermath was just as significant as anything that happened prior.
Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker all became popular throughout the 1990s, and had anchored WWE for several decades. They essentially represented the same generation of wrestlers, and when HBK and 'Taker united to carry Triple H out of the ring, then embraced on the ramp, it felt like recognition that their time in the spotlight had come to an end. This proved not to be the case, as 'The Game' and 'Taker wrestled plenty of matches after, but it was the perfect coming together for three legends who took vastly different routes to the top.
