6. Luchadores Become Mexicools

Psicosis, Super Crazy, and Juventud Guerrera all signed with WWE at roughly the same time. Each came in prior to ECW One Night Stand in 2005, with Crazy and Psicosis competing at the event, and Juventud debuting a few weeks beforehand.

The company's longstanding issues with getting high-flying luchadores over meant many an eyebrow was raised when the trio arrived within weeks of each other, but WWE's grim intentions became clear in June. Instead of presenting the Mexican stars in the same way as ECW and WCW (by pushing their athleticism to the forefront), they were thrown together as The Mexicools - one of the most outwardly racist stables in WWE history.

They wore overalls, rode "Juan Deere" lawnmowers to the ring, and raged against Mexican Americans, calling themselves the only "true Mexican luchadores" in WWE. It was supposed to be ironic. The Mexicools were apparently mocking the derisory stereotypes that plagued Mexicans living in the United States, yet WWE's execution was characteristically ham-fisted, and only succeeded in perpetuating these issues, painting the act as grossly insensitive.

The Mexicools faded quickly, but this short run destroyed their hopes of ever breaking through in WWE.
