7. Papa Shango - Live & Let Die

You need only take one look at the WWE's resident voodoo practitioner to see echoes of the occultist villain Baron Samedi from the 1973 James Bond movie Live and Let Die.

Hilariously dubbed by Wrestlecrap as "a muscle-bound stunt double for Baron Samedi", Papa Shango certainly had the look to get over, but due to his lack of discernible wrestling skill, the character's planned push was quickly nixed, and within a year-or-so, Shango mostly faded into obscurity.

Adapting an iconic movie villain from two decades prior is certainly a bizarre strategy, and one it's hard to imagine flying with fans nowadays. Can you imagine WWE trying to pass off a late-90s Bond baddie as a top-line heel with a straight face today?

At least the man behind the top hat and face paint, Charles Wright, eventually rebounded many years later as The Godfather, a gimmick which still serves as his bread and butter.
