10 Most ANNOYING Wrestlers Ever
3. ‘Raw Constable’ Baron Corbin
Perhaps the only good thing to come out of this dire run was Baron Corbin donating proceeds from a head shave to charity. Good on him for doing that. This writer will also always die on the hill by saying Corbin was never as bad as some folks claimed. Sure, he shouldn't have been Kurt Angle's retirement opponent and some of his gimmicks were crummy (King, Happy etc), but Baron did have value.
His unbelievably rubbish 'Constable' gimmick didn't have any though.
Stephanie McMahon announced that Corbin would become Raw's 'Constable' in April 2018. This was a thoroughly miserable era for the flagship show overall, which wouldn't change until Steph's dad Vince was on the outs and Triple H pulled things back from the brink. Baron, for all his good points, was rudderless as a soft authority figure who didn't even hold much power to speak of. Fans were often bored out of their minds during his endless speeches on TV.
Worse, due to his position as authority, Corbin had to appear numerous times during every show and stink up the place as a 'bad boss' type who went out of his way to cause problems. Mr. McMahon or Eric Bischoff as nWo figurehead, this wasn't. It got old in a hurry, but at least Baron's character became useful to the McMahon family later on.
They used it to exonerate themselves of any blame for how dirt poor Raw had become towards the end of the year. Yeah, that's right, it was all Baron Corbin's fault. 2019 will be better. Ahem!
