10 Most Blatant Times WWE Tried To Rewrite Its Own History

The Ruthless Aggression documentary series first premiered on the WWE Network in 2020. It chronicles the company's highs and lows throughout the early-to-mid 2000s and is also chockful of inaccuracies, propaganda, and outright lies.

First of all, it's got Bruce Prichard on it, which is like hearing the story of The Three Little Pigs from the perspective of the Big Bad Wolf.

It's got issues with the way it presents WCW's involvement in the Invasion, the role of guys like Triple H, and the whole thing regarding Chris Benoit. But the most blatant mistruth in the series regards the company's name change in 2002.

In reality, Vince McMahon's business had been sued by the World Wildlife Fund over the use of the initials "WWF". This prompted the whole "Get the F Out" campaign and the company becoming known as the WWE.

According to the documentary however, the name change was entirely down to Vince McMahon who "wanted to take the company in a new direction".

Not only is this not true, but it can be proven by hard evidence. It's one of the most transparent lies WWE have ever told and proof that old dishonest habits die hard.
