10 Most Brutal WCW Matches Ever

9. War Games (WrestleWar 1992)

When you talk brutality in WCW, you have to talk about War Games. Two rings, side-by-side, with a roofed cage covering them. The match begins with one member of each team squaring off for five minutes. At the end of that period, a coin flip determines which team sends a second member in for a two-on-one advantage for two minutes. Then, the second team gets to send their next member in, and we go back and forth until every man was in the cage, at which point the "match beyond" begins, where War Games can only end after one man quits or is knocked unconscious. On one side of this match, Sting's Squadron, consisting of Sting, Nikita Koloff, Ricky Steamboat, Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham. On the other side, Paul E. Dangerously's Dangerous Alliance, consisting of Steve Austin, Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko and Bobby Eaton. Many of the best workers WCW had at the time, all involved in a bloody fight. Austin bleeds right away, and it's a gusher, bleeding all over Windham as they fight. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xz7btc_01-92-05-17-wargames-wrestlewar_sport What helps to make this match special is the type of workers involved in it. Most of them are extremely skilled technicians, meaning we were able to have that kind of action sprinkled throughout, so it wasn't simply men trying to make other men bleed for 20 minutes. That not only helps to stretch the match out a bit, and keep everyone fresher for the finish, but it helps to break things up and make the violent stretches mean more.
