"I want to be able to give my condolences to her when I'm finished burying her. It's kill or be killed. I'll kill her!"

When the above is part of your pre-match promo - complete with several other such "I'll kill you!" lines - you're setting the bar pretty high with what level of violence to expect.

Those words were from 'Mad Dog' Chigusa Nagayo ahead of her match against Shark Tsuchiya. How did Shark respond? By hitting her opponent with a flaming wooden stick as the first 'move' of the bout!

Being blunt, there really wasn't all that many traditional moves used at all during this 1996 clash at FMW's 7th Anniversary Show. This battle really was a battle, with weapons utilised for 90% of the offense seen.

Even more sinister, it's not just your usual 'deathmatch weapons' at play here, for the early part of this match sees Tsuchiya attack Nagayo with a sickle! It's insane to see, and even more insane once you realise that this bladed weapon is very real and so too is the damage done by this weapon to Mad Dog.

Nagayo took an extremely rough beating here, yet somehow emerges as the winner - although there's often never really a true winner in such bouts.

To say that this is one of the most brutal matches on a card that featured Mick Foley in a Caribbean Barbed Wire Barricade Spidernet Glass Death Match (yes, this is a real thing!), Mr Pogo and Terry Funk teaming up to face Hayabusa and Masato Tanaka in a No Ropes Exploding Barbed Wire Double Hell Exploding Ring Death Match (again, a real thing!), and the explosive retirement match of Combat Toyoda - that gives you an indication of how violent Nagayo vs. Tsuchiya was.
