3. Ricochet's Burial
If you've followed the career of Trevor 'Ricochet' Mann, you'll know that WWE has no clue what to do with him. The innovative and immensely talented high flyer has been booked dreadfully since leaving NXT, though fans still hold out hope. If you were to watch his Super Showdown bout with Brock Lesnar, though, you'd be forgiven for assuming management simply despises the man.
Obviously, the match was a David and Goliath affair, and the storytelling reflected this. Ricochet painted himself as the underdog - but maybe he'd just surprise us. No one expected him to win - but to be squashed in such comprehensive fashion seemed an act of malice.
Lesnar has had some great matches against smaller guys like Bryan and Balor, and no doubt could have done so against Ricochet. Instead, we got a squash match that was over in under two minutes and saw the full-time performer achieve precisely nothing.
Evidently, someone determined that this was what the Saudi crowd wanted to see, but it’s hard to believe that’s the case. An insult to Ricochet, and a payday for Brock.
