In 2006's Armageddon, Paul London & Brian Kendrick, MNM, William Regal & Dave Taylor, and The Hardys faced off in a four-way tag-team ladder match.

As soon as the fight kicked off, there was a problem. When there are eight men jumping in and out of the ring with multiple ladders strewn around, the unpredictability factor is through the roof. Because of this, no one was surprised when things took a terrible turn.

While two ladders were lying on one another like a seesaw, Jeff Hardy leapt onto the edge of one ladder, causing the other side to shoot up, smacking Joey Mercury in the face. The ladder made direct contact with Mercury's head, breaking his orbital bone and his nose in four places. Mercury said:

"I have 5 stitches on the inside of my nose and my cheek and 15 stitches on the outside of my nose and cheek. My left eye is swollen shut and I have continual internal bleeding from my nose and my eye."

The injury was so severe, Mercury left the match immediately and was rushed to the emergency room.
