10 Most Disappointing WWE Moments Of 2020 (So Far)

10. 'Black Wednesday'

Might as well fire through this one ASAP, because it's not fun.

During a global pandemic that has everyone questioning their futures, WWE released over 30 employees, wrestlers and staff from contract. 15 April quickly became known as 'Black Wednesday', and everyone piled on to call McMahon a heartless bastard.

The anger was fair, but Vince would probably tell everyone that it was just business. Sweep aside that (and all the phoney outrage some exhibit on Twitter) though and it's still true that WWE's decision-making was very disappointing, and it smacked of hypocrisy when the company later said in official statements that everyone needed to stick together.

Regrettably, they turned Drake Maverick's plight (he was one of the released workers) into a storyline on NXT and weaved a tale of redemption. The whole thing was messy, a PR disaster in-waiting and disappointing that men and women lost their jobs amidst such uncertainty.
